Today, every second Russian regularly follows the principles of a healthy lifestyle. This trend entails an increase in demand for organic products, especially domestically produced ones.
According to Meticulous Research, the global organic market will grow by an average of 16% annually from 2025 to 2032, reaching $22.7 billion by the end of this period. The growth will be driven by increased consumer awareness of the benefits of organic products, the development of sustainable farming technologies, and government support.
In Russia, according to the Strategy for the Development of Organic Production until 2030 approved by the government, the market should increase by 13 times by that year compared to 2021, when its volume was 9.1 billion rubles, and reach 114.5 billion rubles. At the same time, the volume of domestic consumption of organic products by 2030 should grow to 149.8 billion rubles, and exports - to 27.8 billion rubles against 3.7 billion rubles in 2021. To achieve this goal, it is important to popularize the consumption of organic food products in society, says Vyacheslav Fedyunin, Director of the Organica Foundation.
Stimulating demand for organic products is inextricably linked with the trend towards a healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle. According to VTsIOM data for 2024, 88% of Russians adhere to the principles of a healthy lifestyle, with 53% always following these principles, and 35% sometimes. Against this background, sales of healthy food products, medical products, and food supplements are increasing, and manufacturers are expanding their product lines that are positioned as more useful and healthy. In 2025, the trend towards a healthy lifestyle will continue due to the growing availability of goods and services for a healthy lifestyle, the popularization of a healthy lifestyle in social networks and among opinion leaders, the emergence of new technologies for monitoring physical and mental health, the introduction of initiatives by employers aimed at maintaining the health of employees, and the growing support of Russians for environmental campaigns and the idea of sustainable development.
In turn, the trend towards the spread of healthy lifestyle culture contributes to the growing popularity of organic products among Russian consumers. According to a study by the ORO agency on consumer preferences, 41% of Russians are ready to pay more for healthy food products, and 46% said that organic products are healthier. Russian buyers associate organic products with health benefits, as well as high quality and local production. In addition, 45% of citizens prefer to buy organic products exclusively of domestic production, which indicates a high degree of trust in local producers. According to 27% of Russians, organic products in supermarkets are no different from organic products in specialized organic stores, which means that organic goods are becoming more accessible. It is also interesting that 21% of consumers choose restaurants and cafes where dishes are prepared from organic food products.
Thus, retail and catering need to meet the growing demand of Russians for healthy food and locally produced organic products, and in the context of increasing demand, it is necessary to expand the partner base and find new manufacturers and suppliers. Retail and wholesale trade specialists and representatives of the catering segment will solve this problem, including at the International Autumn Food Exhibition WorldFood Moscow, which will be held on September 16-19 in Moscow, Crocus Expo IEC. Last year, among the 22,554 people who visited the exhibition from 84 regions of Russia and 78 countries, 17% were interested in purchasing organic products and healthy food products.
If you are a manufacturer or supplier of such products, you can become a participant in the Organic and Healthy Food section at WorldFood Moscow 2025 and demonstrate organic, farm, vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free products, bio-products, plant-based meat and milk, dietary, diabetic, sports and baby food, honey, dietary supplements, additives and other organic products and goods for healthy nutrition.
